Hello everyone! Thank you for visiting our site and showing interest in learning about me and my hard
working students. I teach special education classes here at BGM Elementary in Brooklyn, Iowa. She am
a former graduate of BGM and attended Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. My Bachelor of Arts degree is in special
education with endorsements in the areas of mental disabilities and behavioral disorders. I am currently finishing up
my Masters of Arts degree from Morningside College.
I started my teaching career as a 6-8th grade special education teacher in Belle Plaine, Iowa for three
years. I joined the BGM Elementary staff in August, 1997. I enjoy doing activities with my students
that involve being taught outside the classroom, such as the class' annual trip to Camp Courageous of Iowa. I love a
challenge and am always trying to find ways to motivate my students to find learning fun.
Outside of school activities, my favorite hobby is my family. My husband's name is Ken and my
three daughters are McKenna, Madison, and Maycee. We enjoy traveling as a family and doing many athletic activities. My
warm weather months are filled with camping, golfing, swimming, watching my daughter's athletic events, coaching soccer and
traveling. Cold weather months are spent playing volleyball, coaching swimming, car pooling to dance
classes, reading, and going to meetings for various organizations.
